Deep Pond Duathlon 9/13/14



The adult race will be taking place before the youth event, bikers will be entering and leaving the camp therefore we will not allow anyone to enter the camp while the adult race is in progress. 

Please plan to get to registration prior to 7am OR after 10am no exceptions!

Course Details:


Run: 1.3 Miles Triathletes will Start off their race with a run through Camp Schiff. Again, for the safety of our Youth, the entire course is closed to vehicle traffic. Run is off road, on Trails. they will make 1 full loop around the lake.

Bike: 4 Miles  Bike route is on the Schiff Camp Site and 100% closed to vehicle traffic to insure the safest rid conditions for our Youth. Course is fairly flat with some small rolling hills.

Run: 1.3 Miles   After a thrilling bike ride, Triathletes will finish off their race with a run through Camp Schiff. Again, for the safety of our Youth, the entire course is closed to vehicle traffic. Run is off road, on Trails.

TRANSITION AREA: Only participating Triathletes allowed in (Sorry No Parents). You must have your helmet buckled then run/walk your bike out of the Transition Area. NO RIDING IN TRANSITION AREA. You must rack your bike before going onto the run course. Transition Area will have strict security. No bikes will be allowed out without matching run/bike numbers.


All Races are $35. Two weeks prior to the Race day, price will increase to $50. No Same Day Race Registration will be available.

  • Transition Area Opens/Closes: 10:00am-10:45am
  • Packet Pick-Up: 10:00am- 10:40am
  • Pre-race Briefing: 10:50am
  • Race Starts: 11:00am
  • Race Ends: 11:45am
  • Festivities begin: 11:50am

Please remember to bring your USAT Annual Youth Membership Card or you will be required to pay for a 1 day or annual membership at pick-up.

Your Packet will include the following:

  • Race Instructions

  • Race Bibs & Numbers (Bib for front of Shirt, Bike Helmet Number, Bike Number)

Fundraising “KIDS-TRI-4-KIDS”

What makes our events special is that its not “just a race”, but also an opportunity to give back to our community. Though not required, every Participant is encouraged to Fundraise and help other children in desperate need. KIDS-TRI-4-KIDS!! Once you complete your registration you will be sent a personal fundraising website. It takes only a few minutes to get started. Once it is all set-up you can begin asking friends and family for donations. Every Dollar counts. All donations are Tax-Deductible. Fundraising is neither mandatory nor required to participate in any event.

USAT Triathlon

All events are sanctioned by the USA Triathlon. USAT Membership is required. Youth Membership is $15 and will be good for one year. Please register online before your first race, and bring evidence of your USAT member number to each race. USAT provides a “one-day” membership for $10.00 too! Annual memberships will cover you for both Clinics and Races for the entire year. One-Day memberships will need to be purchased for each individual race and clinic.

Age Requirements

This event is open to all ages 7-14. IMPORTANT! How old will your child be by 12/31/2013? If they will be 7-14, then they can participate in this event.


1) If your child is 6 turning 7 by 12/31/2014, they are able to participate in the 7-10 Age Group.

2) If your child is 10 turning 11 by 12/31/2014, they MUST participate in the 11-14 Age Group.

3) If your child is 14 and turning 15 by 12/31/2014, they are NOT able to participate in the Youth Triathlon, but they eligible for the Adult Races.

Again, children’s ages will be determined based on their age as of December 31st in the year of the event. So they may be in an older age group than the age they are on race day.


What to bring…the basics

  • Swim Goggles
  • Towel
  • Bike (no pegs or baskets permitted)
  • Helmet
  • Running Shoes
  • A great attitude and willingness to have fun and participate

Additionally the following rules apply:

  • USAT Membership is required for all participants
  • No electronic audible devices allowed on this course… or you will be disqualified.
  • Helmets are required, helmet strap must be fastened before taking bike from rack and remain fastened until after bike is replaced.
  • Provided swim caps must be worn throughout the swim.
  • On Bike stay to your extreme right unless passing.
  • Run number must be on front of body during entire run.
  • Run number must be on front of body during entire run.
  • Any unsportsmanlike behavior will result in immediate disqualification.


Strong Island Kids believes that every participant is a winner. Though this is a race, we feel participation (not competition) should be encouraged and supported by both the Race Team and Parents. Everyone that crosses the finish line will receive a beautiful Finisher Medal.

Raffles and Special Awards for Best Sportsmanship, Top 3 Fund Raisers, and other categories will be announced.
